Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 40 new cases, zero deaths

Lithuania has registered 40 new coronavirus infections and no deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Wednesday morning.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate currently stands at 24.8 cases per 100,000 people, and the share of positive tests has been 0.5 percent over the past seven days.

Currently 267,565 people are considered as having recovered from Covid-19 and 770 as active cases.

Overall, 278,769 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 4,383 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 8,912.

Lithuania vaccinated over 24,000 people on Tuesday, with 4,151 receiving the first shot and 20,256 getting the second jab.

So far, 1,235,439 people in the country have been vaccinated at least once, or 44.2 percent of the population. Two vaccine shots have been given to 979,640 people.
