Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 35 new cases

Lithuania has registered 35 new coronavirus infections and no deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Tuesday morning.

There were 5,440 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 5,660 antigen tests performed over the last 24 hours.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate currently stands at 27.8 cases per 100,000 people, and the share of positive tests has been 0.5 percent over the past seven days.

At the moment, 267,565 people are considered as having recovered, while 815 remain active cases.

Overall, 278,726 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 4,381 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 8,907.

On Monday, 3,123 people in the country were vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first shot and 16,673 received their second jab.

As of Tuesday morning, 44 percent of the population, 1,231,196 people, have received at least one vaccine shot, whole nearly a million have been vaccinated twice.
