Pope Francis has appointed Visvaldas Kulbokas, a priest from Telšiai Diocese in Lithuania, as the apostolic nuncio in Ukraine, the Lithuanian Bishops Conference said on Tuesday.
Kulbokas was also elevated to the Titular See of Martana, with the dignity of Archbishop.
Kulbokas was born in Klaipėda, Lithuania's third city, in 1974. He was ordained a priest in 1998 and incardinated in the Diocese of Telšiai in the north-west of Lithuania.
Kulbokas entered the Holy See's Diplomatic Service in 2004 and served in the Pontifical Representations in Lebanon, the Netherlands, the Russian Federation, as well as in the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State.
From 2020, he has been serving in the Apostolic Nunciature in Kenya.
