Coronavirus: Lithuania records 1,013 new cases, vaccination at 23 percent

Lithuania has registered 1,031 new coronavirus infections and 13 deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Tuesday morning.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate currently stands at 543.2 per 100,000 people, and the share of positive tests over the past seven days has been 6.1 percent.

There were 10,052 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 9,719 antigen tests performed in the country on Monday.

Overall, 242,926 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic.

Currently 219,678 people are considered as having recovered from Covid-19 and 14,536 remain active cases.

A total of 3,877 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 7,842.

Nearly 6,000 people were vaccinated on Monday: 4,679 got the first jab, while 1,225 people were vaccinated for the second time.

Overall, 636,765 people in Lithuania have been vaccinated at least once, or around 23 percent of the population.
