On Tuesday, Lithuania registered 996 new cases of Covid-19.
Fourteen people have also died from Covid-19, and six coronavirus-infected persons have died of other causes. The country’s total death toll from Covid-19 has risen to 299, and 117 coronavirus-infected people have died of other causes.
Some 226 of the new cases were registered in Vilnius County, 230 in Kaunas County, 169 in Klaipėda County, 128 in Šiauliai County, 80 in Marijampolė County, 56 in Alytus County, 26 in Panevėžys County, 24 in Tauragė County, 13 in Telšiai County, and five in Utena County.
The biggest clusters of new infections have been recorded in social care homes, as well as education and medical establishments across the country.
A total of 36,876 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. Some 27,894 people are still ill with the virus, 8,566 have recovered, and 109,697 are in isolation.
The country has since June 1 registered 475 cases of coronavirus infection contracted abroad.
A total of 1,200,154 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in Lithuania so far, including 12,480 over the previous 24 hours.
