On Tuesday, Lithuanian capital Vilnius implemented new traffic rules, which ban cars from traversing across the Old Town.
The traffic will now flow in loops, meaning that cars will only be able to enter and leave the same sub-divided part of the Old Town. Diagonal movement from one end of the historical centre to the other will now be prohibited.
Vilnius Old Town has been divided into four one-way loops, with main entrances on Trakų, Islandijos, Subačiaus, and Latako streets.

Entrances via smaller streets will still be possible, but each entry point will belong to one of the loops.
The new traffic rules are aimed at limiting the flow of cars in the Vilnius historical quarter, as well as reducing noise and air pollution.
