President Gitanas Nausėda has invited French President Emmanuel Macron for an official visit to Lithuania.
Nausėda invited Macron and his wife Brigitte for an official visit to Lithuania as he congratulated France
"I have no doubts that your visit to Lithuania would be highly valuable in drawing up the guidelines for further cooperation between Lithuania and France on bilateral level as well as on the level of the European and transatlantic community," Nausėda said in his on Bastille Day congratulation to the French and president and his wife, Brigitte, on Sunday.
"That would be an important sign for the young generation of Europeans who are determined to work responsibly for their continent," he added.
During the event marking the Bastille Day in Vilnius, the French ambassador to Lithuania, Claire Lignières-Counathe, announced France will next year send around 300 troops to NATO's multinational battalion stationed in Lithuania.
This will mark the second deployment of French troops to the battalion since 2018.
