Missing paramedic found dead in northern Lithuania

The body of a missing paramedic, Mantas Sadauskas, was found on Tuesday evening in the Panevėžys district, northern Lithuania. Police have launched an investigation into suspected murder and unlawful detention.

Sadauskas, who was born in 1995, earned extra income in his spare time by installing trampolines. On Monday morning, he left in a small white Hyundai van for the village of Paliukai and did not return.

Police later searched a property near where his vehicle was found.

The victim’s father told journalists that his son had received an order on Monday evening to deliver a trampoline for a children’s event at a nursery. The order had been placed via Facebook.

After he went missing, the account used to place the order was deleted. The local official in the area where the delivery was meant to take place said no such nursery exists.

Relatives say Sadauskas had been separating from the mother of his children, who had allegedly refused to hand them over despite a court ruling that they should live with him. The family also said their cars had previously been set on fire.

In a press conference on Wednesday morning, the authorities said there were three suspects, including Sadauskas' former wife.
