The chief adviser to the Lithuanian president, Frederikas Jansonas, appeared to be intoxicated during an award ceremony on Thursday, the attendees of the DELFI event told LRT.lt.
“When he arrived, the presidential adviser was already slurring his words, there was a strong smell of alcohol on him, and he was even unsteady on his feet. Afterwards, he sat down, but when he spoke – it was obvious,” the witness said.
Jansonas avoided answering whether he was intoxicated.
“I will neither confirm nor deny, because what are we talking about here?” he said.
“It wasn’t the best speech I’ve ever given,” Jansonas said, adding that he was “extremely tired”.
The presidential office said it would not publicly discuss “personal matters”.
