Lithuania’s imports from China jump 36% in first half of 2025

Lithuania imported 36% more goods directly from China in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2024, with the value reaching 1.16 billion euros, according to the business daily Verslo žinios.

The increase was the second largest in the European Union after Slovenia, which recorded a 39.7% rise. Across the bloc, imports from China grew by an average of 13%.

In total, Lithuania brought in 2.2 billion euros worth of Chinese-origin goods in January through June. About 1 billion euros of that amount arrived indirectly through other countries.

Economists said the growth in imports was driven by rising industrial production and investment, as well as US tariffs on Chinese goods that have led to more orders for Europe. Lithuanian industry required more Chinese components to keep up with demand, they said.
