Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and his spouse Diana Nausėdienė will attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
“The president will attend Pope Francis’ funeral together with the first lady,” presidential spokesman Ridas Jasiulionis confirmed to BNS on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Ieva Jovaišė, head of the parliamentary speaker’s secretariat, told BNS that Saulius Skvernelis would not attend the funeral.
Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas will not attend either, his spokesman Justinas Argustas told BNS.
“The president will represent Lithuania at the funeral,” Argustas said.
The Vatican has announced that the funeral will take place on Saturday.
