Lithuania’s former President Valdas Adamkus has been discharged home after spending two weeks in hospital due to deteriorating health.
“Valdas Adamkus has been discharged today by the decision of the medical staff at Santara Clinics,” the hospital in Vilnius said in a press release on Friday.
The 98-year-old former president was admitted to Santara Clinics on January 3. He said he had sustained bruises after falling at home due to dizziness.
The hospital said last Monday that Adamkus had been hospitalised due to a worsening of his cardiac condition.
Adamkus served as Lithuania’s president for two terms: 1998–2003 and 2004–2009.
