On Thursday, a man carrying a bag with a Wagner badge was detained at Vilnius Airport.
According to preliminary data, the man is a Lithuanian citizen who was planning to fly to London. It is not yet clear how he will be punished, according to Giedrius Mišutis, spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service (VSAT).
“He has been issued a summons to appear later at the Vilnius Airport Border Guard, where the case will be examined,” Mišutis told the LRT RADIO.
“The penalty for such an administrative offence is a fine between 300 and 700 euros and confiscation of the symbol. The exact penalty will be revealed a little later,” he added.
According to Mišutis, the person did not pose any danger and was therefore released.
In March this year, Lithuania’s Seimas recognised Wagner, a private Russian military company, as a terrorist organisation. Its mercenaries have been involved in the war in Ukraine.
There is no information yet on whether the man detained at Vilnius Airport may have any connection to Wagner.
