Fines collected in Lithuania for non-compliance with the existing international and national sanctions will be transferred to the Development Cooperation Fund and allocated to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The amendments adopted by the Lithuanian parliament Seimas will remain in force until January 2034.
“The goal is for Lithuania to make a united contribution to Ukraine’s reconstruction and to demonstrate its firm commitment to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression,” Deputy Foreign Minister Jovita Neliupšienė said when presenting the bill to the Seimas.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, violators of the existing international sanctions or restrictive measures imposed by Lithuanian law face fines ranging between 200 and 6,000 euros.
The damage caused by Russia in Ukraine is estimated at 700 billion euros, according to the Foreign Ministry.
