Industry association head ranked Lithuania’s most influential businessman

Vidmantas Janulevičius, the president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists has been ranked the most influential businessman in the country.

The ranking, published by Delfi.lt on Wednesday, is based on a survey of 999 “experts”.

Swedbank’s chief economist Nerijus Mačiulis, who topped last year’s ranking, came in second, followed by Arvydas Avulis, owner of real estate company Hanner.

Next on the list are Robertas Dargis, the owner of the real estate development company Eika, and Raimondas Kuodis, an economist and adviser to the prime minister, followed by Marius Dubnikovas, an economist and vice-president of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, and Vladas Algirdas Bumelis, board chairman of Northway Biotech.

Compared to 2022, Darius Mockus, president of MG Grupė (MG Group, formerly known as MG Baltic), and Žygimantas Mauricas, chief economist at Luminor Bank, have dropped out of the top ten this year.

The public ranks Avulis as most influential

In a separate poll of members of the public, Avulis was named the most influential businessman, a title he has held for five consecutive years.

Mačiulis remained in the second place, followed by Danas Arlauskas, head of the Lithuanian Confederation of Employers, who ranked sixth last year.

The top five also included Mauricas and Nerijus Numa, key shareholder of Vilniaus Prekyba that runs the Maxima supermarket chain.

Gediminas Žiemelis, board chairman of Avia Solutions Group, ranked sixth and was followed by Mockus in the seventh place.

Compared to last year’s ranking, Dargis and businessman Antanas Guoga have dropped out of the top ten this year.

The expert survey was carried out for Delfi by the magazine Reitingai, which interviewed 999 politicians, businesspeople, civil servants, journalists, public figures and other well-known people between May 17 and June 19.

The public opinion poll, involving 1,015 respondents aged 18–75, was carried out by the market and public opinion research company Spinter Tyrimai on June 19–30.
