The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT) reports that last night was the warmest in the history of its observations.
"It was a truly tropical night, with temperatures not dropping below 20C degrees," LHMT wrote on Facebook. A tropical night is when the temperature does not drop below 20 degrees.
The service also registered the highest night-time temperature in Molėtai, where it stayed above 25.1C degrees.
"Lithuania has never had such a warm night in the history of meteorological measurements,” the LHMT said. It exceeded the previous highest night-time minimum of 24.4C degrees recorded in Nida on July 8, 2006, the service wrote on Facebook.
