Marats Kasems, the editor of Sputnik Lithuania, was released on bail from a Latvian prison on Thursday. He is under suspicion of breaching EU sanctions placed against the Kremlin-controlled agency.
Kasm is a Latvian citizen who has lived and worked for several years in Moscow. He arrived in Latvia in late 2022 and was detained on January 3 this year.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Sputnik was blocked in the European Union over its support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and attempts to destabilise other European countries.
