Erika Kuročkina, an adviser to Lithuanian Economy and Innovation Minister Aušrinė Armonaitė on innovation, digitalisation and open data, will become the new vice minister.

Starting on Friday, she will replace Vincas Jurgutis after he resigned in March.

"With her extensive experience at Vilnius City Municipality and the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, Kuročkina will contribute to strengthening the area of innovation within Lithuania's economy and the public sector," Armonaitė said in a statement.

Jurgutis decided to resign in March after he was accused of nepotism when his wife and Armonaitė's friend Agnė Belickaitė was appointed as director of corporate affairs at Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LTG), the country's state-owned railway company.
