Google removes 13 URLs at Lithuanian watchdog’s request

Google has removed 13 URLs with IP addresses, directing to unlawfully published copyright-protected content, from its search system at the request of the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (LRTK).

The media watchdog said in a press release on Thursday that 13 respective domain names had been removed from Google’s search system at the Commission’s request on an earlier date. However, the administrators of those websites then provided access to their sites through IP addresses in an attempt to circumvent restrictions.

The Commission also reported that Google had removed six apps, including Lime HD TV, which infringed Lithuanian and EU legislation as well as Google Play developer distribution agreement and the developer program policy, from the Google Play app store.

The Lithuanian media watchdog says it plans to continue cooperation with Google in order to prevent unlawful dissemination of content.
