Lithuania is ready to take in Ukrainian soldiers for rehabilitation and medical treatment, Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said on Tuesday.

"In the coming weeks, Lithuania will receive Ukrainian soldiers for rehabilitation. The Lithuanian health system is ready to accept wounded soldiers for treatment as well," he said.

Lithuania is also ready to organise various training and courses for Ukrainian troops and will continue to supply the country with military equipment, the minister said.

"Training Ukrainian troops to use Western military equipment is now a top priority," he added.

"Also, in response to Ukraine's requests to increase its demining capabilities, [...] the Lithuanian Armed Forces are ready to train deminers and to provide the trained specialists with individual demining equipment," he said.

Lithuania has previously said it may send its troops to help demine Ukrainian territory. However, the proposal was criticised by the military, with the country's defence chief Valdemaras Rupšys saying it could be seen as a direct involvement in the war.
