A man in Lithuania was sentenced to 60 days of arrest for live-streaming praise for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Facebook, as well as calling on the country to invade Lithuania.

According to a press release by the Kaunas District Court, the man was sentenced for incitement to hatred against Lithuanians, Ukrainians, and Roma on Facebook.

In his live-streams, he called for violence against "the people of Lithuania and Ukraine, [...] glorified the aggression of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the killing of people in Ukraine”, adding that “Ukraine should be nuked".

He also said he would “shoot half of the Lithuanians himself” and called on Russia "to attack Lithuania and to destroy Lithuanians”.

The man, named only by the initials A.D., already has eight convictions, including for theft and violence against his spouse and partner.

The court said “every citizen of Lithuania has the right to renounce their citizenship” and “choose to live in a country whose laws he would respect”.
