How to make Lithuania’s Christmas Eve specialty – kūčiukai

Lithuania’s favourite Christmas Eve dessert resembles small, poppy-seed filled cookies. Beata Nichelson, a star chef on LRT TV, has shared her favourite recipe with a yeast-free twist.

500g of flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
2 tablespoons of honey
200 ml of water
2–3 tablespoons of sugar
80ml of cooking oil
A pinch of salt
30g of poppy seeds
