What preoccupied Lithuanians most over last year? A survey of the most popular google searches in the country reveals continued preoccupation with the pandemic – but also with sports and music events.
Quite predictably, Covid-19, vaccination, and Covid certificates were among the most popular search words, according to a press release by Google.
However, the coronavirus was not the top search term this year. Football was number one, followed by the Eurovision song contest.
Here's the top ten list of most googled terms in Lithuania in 2021:

4. Esveikata (e-health, the electronic medical registry)
5. Vakcina Vilnius (vaccination in Vilnius)

9. Korona stop (the government's coronavirus website)
10. Bitcoin price
The top ten list of most googled people is dominated by local celebrities, but also includes Prince Philip, who passed away in spring, and Joe Biden.
You may need to google who the number one personality is. Simas Grabauskas is best known as the husband of Ieva Zasimauskaitė, singer and Lithuania's 2018 Eurovision hopeful. Ironically, many assumed that her song, When We're Old, was about her previous spouse, whom she divorced in 2020 to marry Grabauskas. He is also a Hare Krishna monk.
