Estonia has enlisted the help of 10 conscript paramedics from the country's armed forces to work in a Tallinn hospital during a spike of new Covid-19 cases, the Estonian public broadcaster ERR News reported on Tuesday.
"We have a lot of women here. When the beautiful strong boys came to us, the women changed their behaviour. There was new strength, eyes shone, smiles. The atmosphere in the department immediately became very positive," Lyudmila Linnik, a nurse at West Tallinn Central Hospital, told ETV.
Estonia has reported a sharp spike in new coronavirus infections, as the country grapples with the effects of the second wave of the pandemic.
As of March 30, Estonia’s 14-day infection count stood at 1520.79 per 100,000 people, the highest in the European Union.
