Coronavirus: 21 new cases, 2 linked to music festival

Twenty-one new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed in Lithuania over Monday, the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) reported on Tuesday morning.

Three of the newly confirmed infections have been contracted abroad: two people are believed to have been infected in Ukraine and one in the UK.

Two more cases have been linked to the music festival PravalFestas which took place on August 15–16 near Prienai in central Lithuania. In all, four people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 after participating in the event or coming into contact with people who did.

Two new infections have been traced to a cluster in the medical equipment company Intersurgical in Vilnius County. Eight people linked to the company have been diagnosed with the virus so far.

A case in Vilnius has been linked to the outbreak in a choir which is responsible for 20 infections so far.

At the moment, 811 people are considered active cases, while 1,785 have recovered. In all, Lithuania has confirmed 2,694 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.

Eighty-five people have died from Covid-19 in the country so far.

Currently, 3,780 people are in isolation, including active cases, their close contacts and travelers subject to the 14-day self-quarantine requirement.
