Lithuania has offered 50,000 euros in aid to people affected by last week's explosion in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

“There is a decision to allocate 50,000 euros through the Red Cross,” Bertas Venckaitis, an adviser to the foreign minister, told BNS.

The money will come from the ministry's budget under the development cooperation programme, he said.

A stock of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse in Beirut's port exploded on August 4, claiming over 150 lives and injuring thousands of people.
