Lithuanian Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga on Wednesday added Romania and Bulgaria to the list of Covid-19 affected countries, meaning that arrivals from these countries will be required to self-isolate.
The list was updated based on information from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control and will take effect on Thursday, the Health Ministry said.
The minister also added the Virgin Islands, the Seychelles, Djibouti, San Marino and Swaziland, but removed Pakistan and the Central African Republic from the list which now includes 63 countries.
Lithuanian residents and foreigners who hold a permit to enter Lithuania must spend two weeks in self-isolation if they return from a country on the list.
Romania and Bulgaria are part of the expanded European blacklist, where as of last Friday, arrivals from the two countries were only recommended to isolate. Lithuania's Health Ministry updates the blacklist – seen below – every Friday, and it comes into effect the following Monday.
A country is considered affected if its Covid-19 infection count exceeds 25 new cases per 100,000 people over the past 14 days.
Those returning or arriving from the countries on the list must register with the National Public Health Centre (NPHC) within 24 hours.
The list of most affected countries is regularly updated based on the epidemiological situation.
