Lithuania's Prosecutor General's Office has asked for the detention of Algirdas Paleckis, a Lithuanian politician suspected of spying for Russia, to be extended for another three months.
Paleckis has been in custody since October 2018, with his detention regularly extended. The existing detention period expires on October 26 and The court is due to make a decision next week.
An unidentified "network of persons" and Paleckis are suspected of having collected information for Russia about investigators and judges involved in the landmark January 13 case, as well as other information.

Paleckis was hospitalised for a some time in August-September, as his lawyers have claimed that his health has been deteriorating.
