BNS 2025.09.03 16:45

The International Ukrainian School will be able to continue using premises in Vilnius on a free loan-for-use basis for another three years.

On Wednesday, the cabinet approved an extension of the agreement, granting the school the use of state-owned premises currently managed by Vilnius College in its teaching and laboratory building on Studentų Street.

The school has occupied these premises since November 2022, when the government handed them over for three years under a loan-for-use agreement. That arrangement was set to expire on November 16.

The school provides preschool, primary, and lower secondary education, as well as extracurricular programs in art, sports, and creative activities, and organizes cultural events, exhibitions, and concerts.

The International Ukrainian School in Lithuania was established in 2022, when refugees arrived in the country in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It now has 1,100 students.

The school has branches in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and Panevėžys, with 2,500 students and around 320 teachers. The Vilnius branch has 1,100 Ukrainian students.

Classes are funded from the Lithuanian state budget, with additional support raised by the International Ukrainian Education Support and Charity Fund.

Certificates issued by the school are recognized by universities and colleges in Europe and Ukraine.
