Lithuanian government has allocated 1 million euros to support Ukraine’s integration into the European Union.

On Wednesday, the cabinet approved a request by the Foreign Ministry to allocate 1 million euros in national funding for the implementation of the EU Integration Support Facility for Ukraine, a project funded by the European Commission.

A total of 330,000 euros will be allocated for the project next year, the same amount in 2026, and 340,000 euros in 2027.

The funds come from the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the project will strengthen key Ukrainian public sector institutions, contribute to the strengthening of institutional and administrative capacity by improving the overall management, coordination and monitoring of EU integration processes, the process of alignment of the EU integration-related legislation, and the overall communication and visibility of Ukraine’s Euro-integration process.

The European Commission recommended in November last year that the EU open accession negotiations with Ukraine.

Since the start of the large-scale Russian military invasion, now in its third year, Lithuania has been one of Ukraine’s largest donors in terms of aid as a share of gross domestic product.
