Lithuanian citizens advised to leave Israel amid possible escalations

In view of the possible escalation in the region and the cancellation of flights to Israel, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a recommendation for citizens to refrain from travelling to the country and, for those in Israel, to leave.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, due to the difficult and unpredictable situation and the growing tensions in the Middle East, more and more flights to Israel are being cancelled or temporarily suspended, reducing the possibility of leaving the country on commercial flights.

“We recommend that you assess the need to travel to Israel, and for Lithuanian citizens currently in Israel who wish to leave the country, we recommend that you do so as soon as possible,” the ministry said.

Lithuanian citizens currently in Israel are invited to register immediately by filling in a travel registration form on the MFA website so that they can be contacted for consular assistance if needed.

Since October 7 last year, when Hamas launched an attack in southern Israel, Hezbollah, the Palestinian militant group’s Lebanese ally, has been exchanging fire with Israeli forces on an almost daily basis.

Iran said on Saturday that it expects Hezbollah to strike inside Israel and not limit itself to military targets after Israel killed a Hezbollah military commander this week.
