BNS 2024.06.05 15:03

Lithuania will contribute to the reconstruction of another school, as well as several rehabilitation centres in Ukraine after the government approved the implementation of these projects, allocating almost 11.4 million euros.

Last week, the Lithuanian government already allocated 5 million euros to Ukraine’s education sector.

The reconstruction of a school in Mykolaiv will require 2.7 million euros, half of which will be provided by Lithuania. The other half of the sum will come from the Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania, Artūras Žarnovskis, head of the Co-Create Future of Ukraine program, told BNS.

Meanwhile, 10 million euros have been earmarked for the reconstruction of rehabilitation centres, and the work is planned to be completed within two years.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė announced Lithuania’s plans to carry out these projects in April when Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal visited Vilnius.

Amid Russia’s ongoing war, Lithuania has been regularly contributing to Ukraine’s reconstruction, providing military and humanitarian aid.

According to the Finance Ministry, Lithuania has already provided assistance to Ukraine that amounts to 1.5 percent of the country’s GDP.
