Lithuania will build a school in Bucha and invest 18 million euros in the reconstruction of educational infrastructure in the Ukrainian town.
The sum includes 0.5 million euros from the Climate Change Mitigation Program to be invested in energy efficiency measures, according to a press release published on Thursday.
The project will be implemented by Nullus on behalf of the Support Fund for Bucha School, which was established by the Lithuanian investment group BT Invest operating in Ukraine, the BaltCap Infrastructure Fund and the 1K support fund founded by the comedian and media figure Oleg Šurajev.
Once built, the modern school will be handed over to the municipality of Bucha.
The project designed by the Lithuanian architecture studio 2L Architects and the Ukrainian architecture studio Baust Architects envisages a complex of 14,600 square meters consisting of a school, a kindergarten, and sports facilities.
The building will be equipped with heat pumps, geothermal equipment and a 600 kW solar power plant. Up to 880 children will attend the school and kindergarten.
The project’s budget is estimated at 18 million euros.
The opening of the school is expected on September 1, 2025.
