The new Latvian president, Edgars Rinkēvičs, is paying an official visit to Vilnius on Wednesday, July 19, the Latvian presidential office reported on Sunday.
According to the press release, during the visit, Rinkēvičs will meet with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda and Parliament Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.
During the meetings, the top officials will discuss the decisions taken at the NATO Vilnius summit and the security of the Baltic region, energy security issues, as well as opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Latvia and Lithuania.
Rinkēvičs paid his first foreign visit as Latvia’s president to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, on July 10.
