In response to the recent Wagner mercenary group’s aborted mutiny in Russia, Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry has once again reminded of its recommendations for Lithuanian citizens not to travel to Russia and Belarus.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again reminds of the existing recommendations for citizens of the Republic of Lithuania not to travel to Russia and Belarus, and also urges citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who are currently temporarily in Russia and Belarus to leave the country as soon as possible,” the ministry’s statement reads.
In these and other circumstances, Lithuanian citizens ignoring the Foreign Ministry’s recommendations and travelling to Belarus and Russia endanger their own safety, health, and life, it adds.
“The situation is constantly changing, therefore, we ask citizens in these countries to be vigilant in public places, avoid mass events, and follow the information published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania,” the ministry says.
“It should be noted that the conditions and security situation in foreign countries can change radically at any time, therefore, we advise you to register in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ travel registration system and download the Travel Safely app to receive up-to-date consular information and the ministry’s notifications on the situation in the foreign country,” the ministry said.
