The parliament has proposed holding the direct mayoral and municipal council elections in Lithuania on March 5, 2023.
As established in the Electoral Code, “elections to municipal councils shall be held no earlier than two months and no later than one month before the expiration of powers of the incumbent municipal councillors”.
In Lithuania, mayors and municipal councils are elected for a term of four years.
