BNS 2022.04.01 14:15

Lithuania has applied financial sanctions to Russian TV host Artyom Sheynin, who works for the state-owned propaganda outlet, Channel One, the Financial Crime Investigation Service (FNTT) said on Friday.

Sheynin and his wife own an apartment of more than 100 square metres in the Baltic Sea resort of Palanga. The appraisal value of the property stood at almost 60,000 euros in 2014, but its current value is likely to be much higher, according to the service.

The Centre of Registers has placed a freeze on the property, it said.

Sheynin has in the past worked as a senior executive of the Directorate of Social and Journalistic Programmes at Russia's Channel One. He currently hosts a talk show on the state-owned channel.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally thanked Sheynin for his work in the media.

In addition to Sheynin, Lithuania has applied Russia-linked financial sanctions to two legal entities on the sanctions list and eight legal entities linked to sanctioned Russian entities through ownership or control.

More than 10.8 million euros, almost 3.4 million US dollars (3.07 million euros) and over 645,000 rubles (around 7,000 euros) have been frozen in Lithuania so far as a result of the EU financial sanctions on Russia, according to the FNTT.

In addition, more than 46,000 euros have been frozen as a result of sanctions against four Belarus-linked legal entities and one individual.
