The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) has banned the rebroadcasting of six Russian-language TV channels in the country over their incitement of war and propaganda.
The decision was made to ban the rebroadcasting of Belarus 24, NTV Mir, RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24, PBK, and TVCI, Ričardas Slapšys, vice chairman of LRTK, told BNS.
“The decision was made to temporarily suspend the operation of six Russian-language TV channels for different periods of time,” he said.
“Planeta RTR, Rossijya 24, Belarus 24, NTV Mir, RTR Planeta, and Rossiya 24 were suspended for five years, and PBK and TVCI for three years,” Slapšys added.

In his words, the identified violations “presuppose the possibility to further ban these channels, after having looked at them from the perspective that they spread propaganda and incite war”.
Previously, Lithuania has imposed sanctions on several Russian TV channels for incitement to war and hatred for the maximum period of one year.
After Russia attacked Ukraine on Thursday, the National Electronic Mass Media Council of Latvia banned the rebroadcasting of the Russian TV channels Rossiya and Rossiya 24.
