US President Joe Biden signed the bill, authorising 770 billion US dollars in defence spending, including 150 million US dollars (around 130 million euros) for Baltic security cooperation, Reuters reported on Monday.

Earlier this month, the US Senate and the House of Representatives voted for the National Defence Authorisation Act, or NDAA, for the fiscal year 2022 with strong support from both Democrats and Republicans.

The bill authorises 770 billion US dollars in military spending, 25 billion more than requested by President Biden and about 5 percent more than last year’s budget.

Besides 150 million US dollars for Baltic security cooperation, the NDAA also includes 300 million US dollars for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, providing support to Ukraine’s armed forces, as well as 4 billion US dollars for the European Defence Initiative.

The bill also allocates 7.1 billion US dollars for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative and a statement of congressional support for the defence of Taiwan, according to Reuters.
