Lithuania's Health Ministry has released an updated vaccination plan which sees giving shots to the general population in July, after finishing vaccinating priority groups.
Lithuania received the first delivery of Covid-19 vaccines in late December. The country's medical workers were the first in line to receive jabs. The group's vaccination is nearly complete, according to the ministry.
The vaccination of other priority groups, including medical patients, hospital volunteers, care home workers and residents, social service establishments, with two vaccine shots should be completed in February.
Other priority groups are scheduled to be immunised over spring, with mass vaccination of the population set to start in July.
The Health Ministry has underlined that the schedule is provisional and may change. The plan is based on delivery schedules of only two vaccines, from BionTech/Pfizer and Moderna.
“The volumes to be delivered in Q3 and Q4 have been distributed on assumption that vaccine delivery will take place regularly every week,” the ministry said, adding that the schedule would be updated once new information is received.
The list of all priority groups to vaccinated is available here (in Lithuanian).
EU residents started receiving the BionTech/Pfizer jabs last month, and the Moderna vaccine was approved for use in early January. The European Union plans to approve the AstraZeneca vaccine as early as this week, with its first shipments expected to reach Lithuania in early February.
