Lithuania has donated 16 million euros to the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine for air defence procurements, Defence Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas has said.
He attended a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (Ramstein format) on Thursday and presented Lithuania’s latest military assistance package for Ukraine, the Defence Ministry said.
“Lithuania is committed to retaining a steady scope of military aid of at least 0.25 percent of GDP. The priorities of military assistance are air defence, demining, UAVs, and drone jamming systems. I’m proud to announce that Lithuania has donated 16 million euros to the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine for air defence procurements,” Kasčiūnas was quoted as saying in the statement.
Over May and June, Lithuania’s package of material aid to Ukraine, besides the financial contribution to the International Fund for Ukraine for air defence, includes the M113 armoured personnel carriers that will reach Ukraine by the end of this week, as well as 5.56 mm ammunition, drone jamming and drone surveillance systems, and other vital items.
The M113 is a non-reimbursable contribution to the Ukraine Demining Coalition, which Lithuania leads with Iceland.
