Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has announced that the country will hand over Bofors L70 anti-aircraft guns and ammunition to Ukraine.
“The president informed [his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky] that L70 short-range zenith guns and ammunition will reach Ukraine in the near future,” the president’s office said in a press release on Wednesday.
Lithuania acquired the short-range anti-aircraft guns, which first entered production in the late 1940s, from Sweden in 2000.
Nausėda and Polish President Andrzej Duda made an unexpected visit to Ukraine on Wednesday, where they signed a declaration pledging further support for the country.
"Lithuania and Poland have confirmed their determination to continue providing military, political, diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian support to Ukraine,” Nausėda said in the statement.
This was the third time Nausėda visited Ukraine after Russia launched its full-scale invasion on February 24 last year.
