Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda awarded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the Order of Vytautas the Great with a gold chain, the highest award of the Lithuanian state.
“President Volodymyr Zelensky is a symbol of the heroism of the Ukrainian people, the struggle for freedom, and the right to self-determination,” Nausėda wrote on Facebook.
“On the eve of March 11, I signed a decree awarding the President of Ukraine the Order of Vytautas the Great with a gold chain, the highest award of the Lithuanian state, for his merits in defending freedom and democratic values in Europe together with the Ukrainian people,” he added.
According to the president, with this award, Lithuania pays the highest tribute to President Zelensky and the entire fighting and unyielding Ukrainian people.
