Over 2,000 Lithuanian medical workers get coronavirus shots on first vaccination day

Around 2,270 medical workers were immunised against the coronavirus on Sunday, the first vaccination day in Lithuania, according to the country's Health Ministry.

Its figures show that some 700 medical workers were vaccinated by 17:00 on Sunday in Vilnius, 440 were vaccinated in Kaunas, 160 were vaccinated in Klaipėda, 120 were vaccinated in Šiauliai and 850 people were vaccinated in Panevėžys.

The procedure took place at 26 vaccination points, the ministry said.

On Sunday, hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys started the vaccination process at the same time, at 8:00.

Medical workers received the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine from Covid-19 after the first batch of 9,750 doses was delivered to Lithuania early Saturday morning.
