Palanga, a resort town on the Baltic coast which is turning 760 next year, is taking over as Lithuania's Capital of Culture, the title currently held by Anykščiai. The people of Palanga are very hopeful about the opportunity to take part in the programme, awarding the title to a town for one year to promote tourism and cultural life therein, but will these hopes come to fruition?
