Lithuania's seaport of Klaipėda has resumed operations after close-down due to a powerful winds last night – two ferries and a container ship left the port around noon on Saturday.

Lithuania's seaport of Klaipėda has resumed operations after close-down due to a powerful winds last night – two ferries and a container ship left the port around noon on Saturday.

Dovilė Skabickaitė, public relations assistant to the head of the port, told BNS that DFDS boats Optima and Athena along with a container ship were allowed to leave the port. In her words, wind speeds have fallen to 13-15 m/s.

She said six ships are still awaiting entry into the port including two tankers and four bulk carriers, with two tow boats still on duty next to Independence, the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
