Lithuania's Liberal MEP Petras Auštrevičius has been elected vice-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) political group in the European Parliament.
Auštrevičius replaced former long-standing Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip after he was appointed European commissioner for digital economy and society, the Lithuanian MEP's office said on Monday.
The ALDE group has 66 members from 20 European countries and is led by Belgian Guy Verhofstadt. The group has eight vice-presidents.
Other Lithuanian MEPs in the group are Antanas Guoga and Viktor Uspaskich.
