President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the Investors’ Forum awards ceremony and congratulated businesses that contributed most of all to creating new jobs and good relationship with communities, as well as agencies and media representatives for fostering business environment and investment climate in the country, the Baltic Course wrote.

Traditional awards have brought together more than 700 people, the presidential press service said.

“Lithuania and investors have common objectives. We aim for a transparent and innovative economic success story, based on honest and intelligent efforts and with Lithuanian quality mark. Investors employ our citizens, improve business culture and raise the bar in terms of social responsibility. Lithuania can offer to them one of the most perspective economies in the European Union, safe and attractive environment as well as skilled and diligent workforce,” the president said.

According to the president, Lithuania has made tangible progress over the past few years: it ranks 17th globally in Doing Business rating of business conditions. We are leaders among Central and Eastern European countries. As a proof of growing mutual trust between Lithuania and investors is expanding geography, spheres and scale of investments in Lithuania. The contours of our country are getting increasingly conspicuous in the map of the countries attractive for investment.

The president underlined that investments were very important for accelerating our national economy’s recovery after the crisis. New jobs serve not only to reduce the level of unemployment; they also offer opportunities for people, especially young, to gain important and useful experience here in Lithuania, not abroad.

President Grybauskaitė highlighted the importance of continued efforts to create business friendly environment that could stimulate both more vigorous start-up activities of Lithuanian business people and the willingness of foreign companies to invest in our country. She called on regional representatives to intensify dialogue with investors and explore distinctive advantages of their regions enabling promotion of investments there.
