For the first time ever, a Lithuanian has made it to ‘The Richest People On The Planet 2014’ list, which is traditionally published by ‘Forbes’ magazine every year, reports www.delfi.lt

The wealth of a Lithuanian businessman, Nerijus Numavivičius, was estimated to reach one billion US dollars. In the richest people on the planet list he takes the 1565th place.

Nerijus Numavičius is the major shareholder of ‘Vilniaus prekyba’, which manages ‘Maxima’ store chain in Latvia, Estonia and other countries. Its subsidiaries manage a drugstore network ‘Eurovaistinė’.

On the richest people list Bill Gates has been in the lead for the past 15 out of 20 years. His wealth is estimated to reach 67 billion US dollars in 2013.

‘Microsoft’ creator has outrun Mexican telecommunication magnate, Carlos Slim, which takes a second place in the rating.

According to ‘Forbes’, 1645 billionaires have made it to the list. For a billionare to be included in the top twenty of the world’s richest people list, their wealth has to reach 31 billion US dollars. Last year this threshold was lower – 23 billion US dollars.
