During a special sitting of the state institutions directly involved in the euro adoption process, the participants discussed the ways of how to efficiently ensure that in trade and services spheres the prices were converted properly, after the euro is introduced in Lithuania. Moreover, during the meeting, the participants exchanged the information about the experiences of other countries and agreed on the further cooperation between the institutions.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority, the State Non-Food Products Inspectorate, the Bank of Lithuania, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance.

According to Deputy Minister of Economy Rasa Noreikienė, while preparing for the euro adoption, the agreement and co-operation of all the interested sides were very important.

“We have obtained the information which will be useful during the next week’s visit to Latvia’s Ministry of Economy which aims at absorbing Latvia’s experience, as the country adopted the euro, and to discuss other issues related to the introduction of the euro. Such meetings help us plan the work in a constructive way, to distribute responsibilities, as well as reduce the risk of making mistakes,” said the Deputy Minister of Economy.
